Mullayanagiri, a hill station with amazing view, highest peak of Karnataka, best of South India, and what not. This is definitely a place to visit if you want some adventures, trek, and amazing sunrise/sunset. Mullayanagiri is located just 20 kms from Chikmagalur.
This place gets it's name from a small temple on top of peak. The temple is dedicated to a Tapasvi Mullappa swamy, who is believed to have meditated at the cave near the summit.
Not just this, it also offers activities like mountain biking, trekking and road biking. Being the highest peak in Karnataka, it offers some very interesting trails.
Once there was a saint named Tapasvi Mullapa Swamy. Locals of the regions in and around this place believe that he used to meditate at the top summit of this hill. In this manner, the mountain got its current identity.
In the early days, when the asphalt rock and concrete steps were totally absent, people used to climb the summit by a trail known as Sarpanadi or Sarpadari. This is not so famous trails in modern days.
Take a trek to one of the majestic hills of Karnataka. Trek here is moderate to highly difficult. You could definitely witness the best of best and it pays of for your efforts.
