Janapada Loka, the place where the folk culture of Karnataka is celebrated and brings out the life from the folk culture is Janapada Loka. ಜಾನಪದ ಲೋಕ simply means 'Folk World' (Literal translation) in English.
Situated in the Bangalore Mysore Highway, this belongs to the Ramanagara district which is about 50kms away from south Bangalore. The state's rich folk culture is on display here.
The main motto of this folk-based museum park is to promote and preserve the literal village folk culture among the modern days’ generation. The lifestyle of villagers and the yesteryear vintage equipment/lifestyle products are all under the display here to look back and feel the vibes of the olden days.
The whole folk-based theme park is now categorized into separate wings namely Folk art museum, Loka Mahal, Chitra Kuteera, Doddamane, Shilamala, Arghyamala, etc, and has over 5000+ artifacts here on display. The museum also hosts many cultural fairs related to folk on annual basis.
Lokotsava is celebrated every February where the folk culture of all parts of the state takes part in a 2-day event, the state festival of Karnataka ' Mysuru Dasara' is also celebrated every October and the kite festival is held annually during July.
There's also a small lake inside the campus named Loka Sarovara which attracts many nature lovers. One must certainly visit this place when taking a road trip around Bangalore and Mysore.

Note - Closed on Tuesdays and on special days and Museum is cleared 15 mins before the closing time.
The best time to visit Janapada Loka would be during February/July.
There's a separate entry fee for adults and kids at Janapada Loka, and there are fees for camera allowance. Rs 10 /- for an adult, Rs 5 for a child.
The nearest airport is the Bangalore City International Airport. One could take a cab/hire a private vehicle to get to the place.
The nearest railway station is Bidadi town railway station. Trains from all the major cities in Karnataka halts here. One could take a local auto/cab to commute around the town.
Best way to reach the destination from City Bus stand or any part of Bangalore. There are regular KSRTC/Vayu Vajra buses to the place. Having a private vehicle makes it easier to travel to the destination.
