Devarayanadurga, a hill station located in the Tumakuru distance and is just 72 km from Bangalore is one of the best weekend getaway spots. Devarayanadurga is steeped in mythological importance. It is said that Lord Brahma the creator of the Universe, has performed penance for many years in the name of Lord Vishnu for several thousand years. Various mythological books describe this place as a very sacred place, as there is a pond with sacred water which is believed to run through the idol of Yoga Narasimha, which can be experienced even today as one enters the entrance of the temple premises.
This is one of the best treks that you can take. The trek generally starts from the base, and you have to pass two temples on the way to reach the peak of the mountain. But remember, all the trek you take is worth for the view you get from the top of the mountain.
